"In order to restore their dying safe haven, the son of Poseidon and his friends embark on a quest to the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece and to stop an ancient evil from rising"
The Target audience for Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters is most likely everyone, but mainly teens and young teens who have read the books that the films are based on by Rick Riordan.( The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, The Last Olympian.) these books are aimed at young children, this means young people will want to watch the film adaptation of what they have read.
The first thing that we see bout this trailer is the distribution logo, the 20th century fox logo is shown in all its glory with a water-style themed fade, highlighting the fact that water has a big part to play in this film already. We then see scenes of places that are most likely going to be shown in the film.
The main thing that is noticeable is the Narration of 'percy' talking about what happened in the previous film (lightning theif)

Man of Steel magazine cover analysis
The Layout of the Empire Magazine cover for Man Of Steel is that Clark Kent aka 'Superman' is the main subject in the foreground, overlaying the EMPIRE text and the wreckage of smoke and carnage in the background making the subject stand out more giving the feeling that he has dominance over everything. The Empire text and the 'Superman Vs General Zod collector's cover 1 of 2' which is placed at the top seeing as it might be the first thing the reader looks at, it also gives and idea that the film involves hatred/a fight between Superman and General Zod, it also informs the reader that this cover is 1 of 2;

Man of steel Poster Analysis.

The Genre is conveyed through many aspects shown on the poster, the blurriness of the background indicates that the subject 'superman' is flying at a high speed giving the Action/fantasy genre feel, giving the fact that superman (Henry Cavill) has superhuman powers and being able to fly. The genre is portrayed through superman's body language and the way he looks, the stern look in his face/eyes and the clenched fist gives the idea of power and how strong superman actually may be, referring to the idea that the genre is Action, all of these aspects rolled into one makes the audience feel that this movie means serious business.
The Unique Selling Points (USP) for this poster are how prominent the poster tells you about the film being a 'superman' film, this communicates to the audience of the massive franchise that is a part of the film, The franchise being a superhero/superman/DC comic related worldwide fandom. Another Unique part about the poster is the listed actors, the actors listed on the poster are all well known, such as Henry Cavill (Immortals) Amy Adams (The Muppets) and Russel.
The Colours that are involved in the poster are the superman colours that Clark is wearing, which are on his outfit, which are the main superman colours of red and blue, which relates to the american flag (red, white and blue) indicating that superman will defend america no matter what. the grey and silver colour of the tall city below refers to the idea that it is busy and the result of it being shown blurry shows that whatever is going on down there is serious and busy.
The main conventions of this poster that relates to other posters is that the main subject (superman) is shown in the middle of the poster, being the main focus. The actors names are shown just under the middle, listing the main actors first, for example; Heny Cavill, Amy Adams ect ect. The main Title is then shown either at the top or at the bottom, in this case, at the bottom conveying a main convention of a poster, it is a bold silver/white colour with spaced letters making you want to focus of the title more. The release date is usually right at the bottom giving information, and between the title and date are the production companys name, like; Warner Brothers, and also listing the actors names once again as an extra credit.

Man of Steel
Man of Steel
"A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind."
The target audience for this film would be around 10+ seeing as many young people are fans of superman and superheros, i think that is the target audience because a lot of young people read DC comics and are fans of other superman films (Superman returns 2006) this is because the films bring the comics to life.
The first thing about this trailer is the production company logos, for example Warner Bros and DC Comics, the style that these logosare shown are quick and fast paced with fading transitions, this is effective by creating a sense ofmystery within the first few seconds of the trailer.
Another key point about this trailer is the use of the music, The music gives the trailer an important feel throughout, bit is dramatic and serious, the use of the music being instrumental shows that the trailer should be taken seriously, for example, if the backing music was hip-hop the audience watching the trailer would not take the trailer seriously and just think its a joke, seeing as the music doesn't fit with the footage being shown, so, the use of this classic instrumental music ties in nicely with the aspect of how serious the film is.
The first few clips shown in the trailer are slow and have slow moving transitions that fade to black, the black transitions happen quite frequently,.which means it could mean that some fottage from the trailer is notbeing shown making the audience question what would be filled into the gaps, and what they are missing if they dont go and see it in the cenima.
The scenes that are shown at the beginning are all of superman and his life, some shots are of him as an adult and some are of superman (Clark Kent) in his early life at the beginning, showing what his life was like when he was a child, for example Clark saving school kids from a school bus accident when he was about 10. Then later on in the trailer we show superman in his full force as an adult and fully grown, showing adult life and childhood shows that the trailer is reflecting on superman's life throughout the trailer, which could mean that the trailer is showing how full scale/massive and epic the actual film will be. And not seeing superman in his full superman get-up until right near the end of the trailer builds up suspense throughout, and when getting to the full shown superman the scene is powerful and epic.
Toward the scenes at the end, the editing is fast paced and the music is more powerful, thus showing that the action is happening and that its important This shows that the main genre for this film is Action and fantasy.
The Director of Man of Steel is Zack Snyder who is an American film director, film producer, and screenwriter, he has directed many films such as Watchmen and Suckerpunch, two amazing films that won awards, it is alsoset that zack is set to direct the Man of Steel sequel.
The actors that are involved with Man of Steel are, Henry Cavill, A British Actor, who is portraying the role of superman (Clark kent) a new actor that has just come into the limelight with this film, he has been involved in many films but he has not been recognized until now with this major film. Amy Adams is also another star in this film, and she is Henry's co star on screen portraying the main female role of Lois Lane, Amy Adams is also a big star is Hollywood staring is such films as; The Muppet's and Enchanted which are both up beat and fun compared to the seriousness of Man of Steel.
The special effects for this film run its course throughout, making special effects one of the unique selling points for this film. One main special effect for this film is that it can be shown in 3D in cinemas, Zack Snyder was hesitant to shoot the film in 3D and carried on filming in 2 Dimension, but then decided to convert the film into a 3D experience in post production. thus creating a 2D, 3D and IMAX release. There are many scenes in the trailer showing aspects of special effect use, they are mainly revolving around superman in all of his glory, for example the scene where his fist is on the ground and suddenly shooting up and flying, And explosions and an alien space ship that is shown shortly after the trailer picks up speed and becomes more intense. Zack Snyder said himself that “Let me just say one thing about Superman – he can’t do anything that’s not a visual effect. He can walk around and talk, but if he’s going to do something physical, that’s a visual effect, because he’s Superman.” explaining that anything superman does is a visual effect.
Being part of a Franchise is a bi deal for this film, as shown at the beginning of this film the industries that are a part of this film are DC Comics/DC Entertainment, which are in relation to the DC Comic books, DC as a whole is a massive franchise and many people read the comics and watch the films, because DC comics have been around since 1934, creating an enormous fan base throughout the years, thus meaning fans and readers of the superman comics and watchers of the previous superman films will most likely want to watch this film seeing as its a new take and a shiny new perspective on superman's origin story. DC Comics have also worked on films such as Batman, which is also another franchise which also has a massive fan base, both of these franchises link into each other seeing as they (and many more such as; Green Lantern and Watchmen) all mash together to create the fan base and franchise of DC Comics.
The genre for this film is obviously shown throughout the trailer, it shows to be a Action/Fantasy film. this is supported by the story of superman and how he is 'super' with non-human powers indicating the fantasy side of the film. The Action side to the film is supported through numerous scenes towards the end of the trailer, after superman shoots up into the air we see scenes of explosions, people running away from danger and alien space ships trying to take over.
The trailer then ends with superman standing in front of armed guards suddenly turning to a pitch black screen to show the title followed by the new superman logo, by doing this after all the action scenes makes the audience viewing the trailer feel like they are in a bubble of suspense, making them feel that they are in a state of shock after witnessing all of the action and then giving them a complete calm environment at the end making them anticipate the wait to see the film, making their jaws drop.
